Interactive Judicial & Silk Appointment Workshops

**** Feedback from my Faculty of Advocates Workshop Vice-Dean to Tim Collins  ****

How to approach making a judicial or Silk application and how to stand out from the crowd at your selection day or interview.

In a two hour interactive workshop I will discuss and answer any questions candidates may have on:

Why competency based recruitment?

How do the qualifying tests work?

How do you select and support your referees?

How to develop compelling application forms?

How you can prepare to succeed at interviews?

We will also consider: role plays and situational questioning.

I have run this workshop for a couple of Circuits in Cardiff, Bristol and Winchester, twice for The Faculty of Advocates in Edinburgh and for numerous Chambers around the country.

“Thanks Tim for the excellent presentation to Faculty. There was lots of good stuff in it and feedback has been very positive

– David Parratt –  Director of Training & Education in the Faculty of Advocates

“Excellent content, relevant and useful. Seminar stands out as one of the most useful Circuit has offered, the experience and knowledge on the subject of the speaker was incredible”.

– W&C Delegate

“I just wanted to say thank you to Tim and the Circuit for an excellent free seminar.  It usually costs hundreds to get that sort of advice!”

– Winchester  Attendee

I’ll share practical tips, advice and examples of what does and doesn’t work. Do come prepared to ask any questions and we’ll aim to make the session as interactive as possible.

The cost for any circuit, law society, chambers, firm or group for the 2-hour seminar is £400  + travel expenses and VAT. A full set of the slides with hyperlinks to resources and examples will be shared with all attendees. I’ve tried to pack as much in as possible into the two hours and keep the costs down so that it can be accessible for as many as possible.  All you would need to provide, in addition, is a room, projector, screen and one bottle or jug of water!

****UPDATE May 2020****
